Kenya Airways share drops further over huge loss

Kenya Airways stock at the NSE declined to Sh10 on a volume of 2.6M shares, down from Sh10.40 posted the previous session, as pressure from the Sh7.8 billion after tax loss continued to weight on the airline’s shares. Investors appear to be cutting their losses by exiting the counter, thus pushing down the price.

Agricultural: Williamson Tea down five shillings to Kes.250.00 moved 1,500 shares. Sasini moved 57,000 shares and closed at Sh14.25.

Banking: The Banking Sector had 9.9M shares traded and represented 50.11% of the day’s traded volume. Equity Bank moved 6.9M shares at between Sh31.25 and Sh32.50. KCB moved 1.1M shares and closed at Sh36.25.

Commercial and Services: Commercial & Services Sector moved 3M shares, which accounted for 15.54% of the day’s traded volume. ScanGroup Ltd down 3% to Kes.61.50 moved 153,000 shares. Uchumi Supermarkets moved 119,000 shares and closed at Kes.19.15.

Energy & Petroleum: Energy & Petroleum Sector moved 2.6M shares, which accounted for 13.17% of the day’s traded volume. KenolKobil was unchanged at Sh9.65 moved 1.78M shares. Insurance Sector: KenyaRe moved 650,000 shares at between Sh14.85 and Sh15.50.

Manufacturing & Allied: Manufacturing & Allied Sector moved 571,000 shares, which represented 2.89% of the day’s traded volume. British American Tobacco was down Sho36 to Sh541.00 for 800 shares traded. Mumias Sugar moved 370,000 shares at a stable price of Sh4.40.

Telecommunication & Technology: This sector had 2.2M shares and represented 11.36% of the day’s volume. Up 20 cents to Sh6.90, Safaricom moved 2.2M shares.

Meanwhile, turnover at the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) rose to Sh495 million from the previous session’s Sh309 million, while the number of shares traded stood at 19 million against 32 million posted yesterday. The NSE 20 Share Index was down 1.27% to stand at 4701.22 points, market data released by the NSE shows, as the All Share Index (NASI) shed 0.85 points to stand at 118.78.
