About 130 members of Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL), an international peace organization conduced the 2019 HWPL First Kenya Volunteer Activities in Kibera slum, on December 15th and 19th.

HWPL, which proclaimed the ‘Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW),’ an international anti-war law in 2016, is working on the “Legislate Peace (LP)” project with the intention of promoting a global peace movement to make it international law.

The LP project encourages participation in politics, law, the media, religion, women, youth and civil society, and expands various activities of a culture of peace around the world.

This volunteer activity was an environmental cleanup service under the subtitle “United For Peace and Harmony” as part of the LP project.

This activity was designed to directly experience and feel the values of order, concessions, consideration, cooperation, etc., which are the basic literacy of citizens to achieve peace, rather than theoretical peace education.

Duncan Oliech, who participated in the activity, said, “It is real peace education to teach and experience what mindset a citizen must have to achieve peace, rather than abstractly claiming that peace should be achieved.”

He added: “We are convinced that a more active LP campaign will spread the culture of peace to all citizens and it can be the basis for achieving peace.”

An official from HWPL said: “We plan to spread the culture of peace through regular peace education and volunteer activities to experience it every month.”
