Glovo Kenya Records 47% Growth In Grocery Shopping

Online orders for fruits and vegetables recorded 1681% growth as Kenyans interest in healthier living rise.

Through its own network of delivery-only supermarkets, ‘Glovo Bargains’, and top grocery partners available in the app, online grocery shopping in Kenya has risen by 47% since 2022.

In the same period, this new way of buying everyday products has boosted categories such as ‘Fruits and Vegetables’ to the growth of 1,681% through high-demanded products like apples, bananas, avocados, oranges, or lemons.

Fruits & Vegetable orders are concentrated fairly uniformly between 10 am and 5 pm, with a peak at 12 pm (10.4% of the daily total). The most consumed fruits are apples, bananas, oranges, lemons, and grapes.

“Through Glovo Bargains, Glovo’s delivery-only supermarkets, and the network of local specialized partners available on the app, we only inch closer to our goal of bringing convenience and the best grocery experience to our customers,” said Caroline Mutuku, General Manager for Glovo Kenya.

“As we enter fully into the last lap of the year, Glovo is now enabling city dwellers to enjoy the art of mixology by treating themselves to nourishing and revitalizing cocktails inspired by the vibrant flavours of Kenya.”

In view of this growing trend in the country, Glovo recommends 5 mouth-watering cocktail recipes based on healthy seasonal fruits, while savouring the refreshing Kenyan flavours from home.

This vibrant cocktail will surely lift up your spirit. In a blender, combine fresh Kenyan mango chunks, orange juice, and a splash of lime juice. Blend until smooth and serve over ice.
