Capital FM presenters, Amina Abdi Rabar and Fareed Khimani popularly known for their Capital in the Morning radio show are seeking to be the first radio duo host the first Radio Marathon in Africa.

If they hack the 28-hour feat, the duo will clock half the world record which currently stands at 60 hours.
Amina who is one of the top media personalities in East Africa has expressed her desire to break the World record in the next marathon slated to be held in a few weeks.

The 28 hour Marathon is billed to commence on October 30 at 6 am and is expected to run until 31 October 2019.

Marathons

Marathons are popular in media and are used to generate hype, in this context, the marathon could be a way to strengthen Amina and Khimani’s profiles while building Capital FM’s brand at the same time.

Netflix and Nickelodeon are some of the media brands that have held marathons to boost their image or that of their employees.

Flip flop duo

While it is commendable that the duo is embarking on something challenging, Amina and Khimani have in the recent past used desperate tactics to try and win over audiences.

On July 12, the two were involved in an on-air spat over Khimani’s fat paycheque. While it is not clear whether the scuffle was stage-managed, the incident had the hallmarks of a couched scenario.

During the scuffle, Amina tore into Fareed before the latter “got enough” of her stick and threatened to leave the studio, an action that Amina gladly cheered saying that “nobody would miss Khimani”.
