The rewards for gaming companies have inspired many betting companies in Kenya.

The latest player is Pambazuka National Lottery (PNL), which was launched two weeks ago with a Ksh100 million jackpot.  “The Pambazuka National Lottery seeks to provide revenue-generating entertainment through the sale of an innovative product that will generate both social and economic benefits to Kenya as a whole,” said Mr Hussein Mohamed, CEO Bradley Ltd, which is running the lottery.

Gambling is a 400-billion dollar industry. In Kenya, gambling is made up of sports betting operators, casinos and poker rooms. These are the industry’s big winners, due to how games are stacked against players. Bookmakers make money due to vigs, casinos are guaranteed to profit due to the house edge and poker rooms receive rake from every pot.

Pambazuka lottery, which enters a crowded market, is betting on inspiring belief and creating optimism through the delivery of an engaging experience while offering “consistent superior consumer interaction”. PNL will be giving back to society as well through projects such as good deeds, player winnings, government through taxation and the business segment through retail segments.

The biggest good deed was done Wednesday last week with the organizers of the campaign delivering maternal and new born care packs to 47 hospitals across the country. Other beneficiaries of the good deeds campaign were the Mary Faith Rescue Centre in Dagoretti, Provisional General Hospital in Nakuru, Mariakani Hospital in Rongai as well as Makau Muli, a student suffering from Fibromyalgia, who was given funds to seek medical attention.

Participants can play the lottery through the SportPesa gaming platform or by buying their tickets from Pambazuka vendors across the country.
