Christmas festivities are still going on even as this year is almost coming to a close, and what a good way to celebrate, than offering to help the less privileged and less fortunate in the society. A non-governmental organization, Asha Hersi Foundation, that has been empowering both boy and girl child especially the youth sought to celebrate this year’s Christmas by visiting the Dagoretti Early Child Intervention Programme ( DCIP) located in Dagorretti South, Waithaka area.
Among those in attendance were the Asha Hersi Foundation CEO Irma Kituku accompanied by members from the Women in Business (WIB) where Madam Asha Hersi Moghe serves as a Vice-president.
Speaking to the media shortly after the donation of food stuffs and basic essentials for the children who mostly are orphans and vulnerable, the institution’s director Felister Wangui Kibe welcomed the move and at the same time called on well-wishers to support the children especially this festive season by putting a smile on their faces.
“They need basic needs such as food and clothing; many orphans are as a result of HIV / AIDS. Others are as a result of abandoned children by their guardians. My main motivation has been to provide them with food, clothing, medical care and a healthy environment,” she stated.
On her part, the Asha Hersi Foundation founder and CEO, Asha Hersi Moghe said by supporting the children home, they are advancing the philosophy that, Kenyans’ problems needs Kenya’s solutions.

She said, at the foundation, having supported and initiated a mentorship programme for the youth in Bungoma County to address cases of early and teenage pregnancies, they have expanded their tentacles to also help the young children and less fortunate so that they can leave a mark in their lives as well.
“In the past we have partnered with the Safaricom to help young entrepreneurs by supporting talents, also partnered with the beyond Zero initiative by the first lady Margaret Kenyatta and Women in Business. All these programmes have borne fruits and we are proud of our achievement as a foundation,” said Moghe.
She sent a warning note to the youth to be extra careful on the latest Covid-19 Omicron variant and adhere to government’s directive among others be vaccinated , masking up at all times. Consequently, she reminds them that, after the Christmas & New Year festivities, it’s back to the issues relating to youth empowerment in our society.
The foundation aims at touching many hearts even as this year comes to a close and ushering in a new year 2022 that starts on Saturday.
Since the onset of Covid-19 , the Foundation has been in cooperation with the Bungoma County in conducting short terms counseling sessions, talks and discussion on various issues affecting teenagers.
