Key features of the Samsung Galaxy S8 launched in Kenya

Smartphone users can now have a new experience of the most talked about Samsung Galaxy S8. The device is now available in Kenyan  market at a retail price of Ksh84,999 for the S8 device and Ksh94,999 for the S8+ device.

Speaking during the launch of the device, the Managing Director and Vice President of Samsung electronics East Africa, Mr Jung Hyun Park, said that the Samsung Galaxy S8 ushers in a new era of smartphone design and new services, opening up new ways to experience the world.

“The Galaxy S8 is our testament to regaining the customer trust by redefining what’s possible in safety and marks a new milestone in Samsung’s smartphone legacy,” said Mr Park.

Powerful features

The device is available in 5.8-inch Galaxy S8 and 6.2-inch Galaxy S8+, the Infinity Display and bezel-less design for a smooth, continuous surface with  no buttons or harsh angles.

Other features include an advanced camera for optimal low-light and anti-blur photos. The camera is enhanced by an auto filter feature and enhanced multi-frame  image processing. The front camera offers 8Mega Pixels with a facial recognition technology to ensure that photos taken from almost any distance are clear and focused.

The rear camera is 12 megapixel. Also the dual-pixel sensor technology, wide aperture and fast autofocus work together to create to create a sharp and beautiful photos even in low light environments.

The devices are equipped with a new user interface feature called Bixby, an intelligent interface that will help users get more out of their phones by using its contextual awareness and capabilities to offer personalized help based on what it continues to learn about the user’s interests, situation and location.

Also, using Bixby’s image recognitiontechnology, users can shop, search for images and get details about nearby places.

Leveraging the processing power (Octa core, 10nm process), Samsung Galaxy S8 is equipped with Samsung DeX, a feature that transforms the smartphone into a desktop by providing a secure desktop-like experience. With this feature, one can edit data from their phone without transfering it, chat or receive calls without necessarilly touching the phone.

The new device has a RAM memory of up to 4GB, 64GB of internal memory and an external memory slot that can hold upto 256GB.
