Janet Kanini husband mourns with a very moving song

Janet Kanini, who died on Saturday 1st April from lung cancer, is being buried today at her matrimonial home in Narumoru, Nyeri County.

The former NTV presenter, who passed on aged 38, is survived by two children – Pedro, 6, and Jasmine, 4.  During the memorial service held on Friday, her husband George Ikua, eulogized her as a friendly and dedicated family woman.

He said she had received awards of excellence and was recognized as one of the 40 under 40 women in Kenya.  Janet was diagnosed with lung cancer stage four in 2015. In February 2016, she announced she was cancer free.

Most touching was how George Ikua mourned Janet Kanini on his Facebook page, through lyrics from the moving song, Good people, which was initially performed by American superstars Jussie Smollet and Yazz (From the popular TV show Empire). [listen to the song below]

“…it’s hard to keep going,” he wrote some of the song’s lyrics on his page, “We keep holding’ on to what could have been.”

Her NTV colleagues, including Pamela Asigi, NTV managing editor Linus Kaikai and Emmanuel Juma, paying glowing tribute to their former colleague, describing her as inspirational and an easy to get along with lady. She left NTV in 2010 but returned in 2013 as N-Soko property show presenter up to 2015.
