‘Ugali Man’ Charles Odongo Bags Endorsement Deal After Going Viral [VIDEO]

Eating Ugali has never been so profitable, after Charles Odongo secured an endorsement deal with sports betting company Odibets. He features in the company’s latest advertisement, promoting odds and bonuses as only he can.

Odongo is better known as Ugali Man, after he went viral eating Ugali with meat stew. He even placed some meat on the table for his cat, but it was the image of him grabbing a piece of ugali mid-air that became a sensation across the internet, becoming a meme shared across platforms including Whatsapp, Twitter, Tik Tok and Instagram.

The photos were accompanied by hilarious captions such as: “When someone sends M-Pesa but uko na Fuliza,” and Odongo became the Kenyan web’s newest star.

Odongo is a gym owner and trainer from Ongata Rongai, who often shares videos of his workouts and sessions with clients, welcoming all to his establishment – King Kong Fitness.

Odibets and Odongo’s everyman brand seem to be a match made in heaven, with the new ad already widely shared across social media.

He is the latest creator in Kenya reaping big from what is a fast evolving, multi-million shilling creative economy.

Comedians such as Flaqo, Crazy Kennar and Julius of Wololo TV have all gone on to work with some of the country’s biggest brands after finding fame online.

The shift in ad budgets, to social media, video and search ads alongside influencers, has been represented in recent trends which have seen mainstream media platforms including TV and print, take a hit.
