Traditional brewers use under-wear to attract customers

Business is not easy and entrepreneurs will go to all lengths to attract and keep customers. Formal ones will advertise while others reply on word of mouth. But in the trade of tradition brews, the science of retaining customers takes a bizzare angle.

The Standard reports that drinking at a den in Silibwet Trading Centre in Bomet was unceremoniously brought to a halt after patrons discovered used female underwear inside the brew they were drinking.

The discovery was made when one of the men peeped into the brew while trying to position his drinking straw and saw something that resembled a bra immersed in the busaa, a  fermented brew.

The revellers poured the brew to confirm what the foreign item in their drink was. The discovery of a collection panties and bras in the drink shocked the drinkers.  The use of charms for both love and business is common among traditional African communities.

Those selling brews use underwear or even dead rats and snakes. It is believed this gets partakers hooked to not only the drink, but also the drinking place.
