    As part of the deal, South Africa will deport illegal immigrants in their country who transited through Kenya back to Kenya. In a country where xenophobia is a key political talking point, the Ramaphosa administration has been keen to shore up points on immigration while easing travel and trade barriers with countries including Kenya.

    Nigerian oil marketers issue strike threat

    LAGOS, Nigeria: July 24 (Xinhua) -- Nigerian oil marketers on Tuesday threatened to shut down their operations within 48 hours if government failed to pay the subsidy claims to marketers.

    President of Depot and Petroleum Products Marketers Association of Nigeria (DAPPMA) Dapo Abiodun gave the ultimatum to reporters in Lagos, Nigeria's commercial hub.

    The government's failure to pay all verified and outstanding subsidy claims would lead to the members to suspend supply and distribution of petroleum products nationwide, Abiodun said.

    Kenya to sign 13 bilateral air service agreements in 2012

    NAIROBI, Kenya: July 24 (Xinhua) -- Kenya has identified 13 countries that it will negotiate for new air service agreements or review existing agreements by the end of the current financial year, a government official has.

    Ministry of Transport Acting Director of Air Transport Nicholas Bodo told journalists in Nairobi that the move will allow Kenya expands its aviation links with the rest of the world.

    "As part of government plans to expand international trade, it will negotiate or review air service agreements with 13 nations," Bodo said Tuesday during a Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KESPA) transport stakeholders forum.
