Microsoft is the Technology category sponsor in this year’s Bloggers Association of Kenya (BAKE)  Awards, which celebrate the best in Kenyan blogging.

This year’s competition began on January 11th, 2018, where blog submissions were accepted in 23 categories which included business, tech, agriculture, health, fashion among others. Thereafter, a panel of judges selected the best five nominees from the successful submissions in each of the categories. The competition is now in the public voting phase which will close on May 7th, 2018.

“In a world being transformed by technology every day,” said Mr Sebuh Haileleul, Microsoft General Manager for East Africa, “it pleases us to see more people embracing blogging to inform and educate customers on the latest business, technology solutions as well as trends.”

He said as Microsoft works towards empowering people and organisations to achieve more, access to information plays a vital role in that journey.  “The power of technology provides that vital access to this content,” he said

BAKE Chairperson Kennedy Kachwanya commended Microsoft for supporting the awards, now in their 7th year, for the third time. “We are grateful for the support that companies like Microsoft have given the blogging community and we are looking forward to more collaborations.”

To support the creation of local content in more topic areas, BAKE introduced three new categories this year: Environment, Beauty and Hair and Video Blog (Vlog)”.
