Keroche Breweries heiress Anerlisa Muigai is among three Kenyans named among 40Under-40 African Business Icons by Business Elites Africa magazine. Others are EcoPost Founder Lorna Rutto and Nairobi-based entrepreneur Mark Kaigwa.

Ms Muigai, 30, was recognised for not focusing on her family’s riches and instead launching a multi-million company, NERO, which manufactures premium drinking water targeting those with class and style. The magazine says Executive Water is one of the topmost on-demand brands on supermarket shelves in Kenya.

On Wednesday, she also bagged the runners up position in the Female Entrepreneur of the Year at the Young Entrepreneurs Awards organised by Bizna.

Ms Rutto, 33, resigned from her job in 2009 to start EcoPost, which converts waste plastic into polls and fence posts as an alternative to timber. The venture has saved the country’s endangered forests.

On the other hand, Kaigwa, 26, is also a Nairobi-based filmmaker, consultant, digital marketer, motivational speaker and social media enthusiast.
