Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery’s death came as a shock to many in the country. This is due to the fact that he was healthy attending a prayer rally in Uhuru Park in the afternoon and the next moment he is pronounced dead.

The events leading to his death are still unclear. He will be held in the hearts of many people because he tried hard to ensure Kenyans’ security is guaranteed.
He is remembered by many from his Maa community as a social person always trying to help people in need.

Despite all these we can a few lessons from his death and his relationship with people, fellow employees and the family at large. Some of the lessons include:

Family always comes first

Most working-class individuals tend to delegate more time to their work and forget about family. After work in the evening, an individual is supposed to give attention to his/her family. A mother or father is supposed to help his/her kids to tackle their homework and play with them.

Most individuals are usually seen glued to their laptops and receiving calls concerning their job. This habit should be discouraged as your children and husband or wife feels less loved and appreciated. This habit can even lead to cheating in marriages.

Nkaissery is a good example of a good parent, according to reports from the family he was always at home with family and during weekends if there is no state function they used to go out together. This is the spirit every parent should adopt.

 Money can’t buy life

Nkaissery was a wealthy and respected individual in the society. His palatial residence in the heart of Karen, his acres of land in Kajiado and many cows made him one of the wealthiest individuals in Kajiado and the country at large.

Together with his family they get the best treatment from The Karen Hospital, meters away from his palatial residents. However, this cannot prevent the fact that one day an individual will have to die and his time came. An individual should do good and let God do the rest like Nkaissery did.

There is always a ready replacement in waiting

During condolences and tributes to a fallen soldier, people tend to lie that an individual cannot be replaced. The loss will be felt through some disruptions but after sometime you will be forgotten and replaced. The only people who cannot forget and erase you from their hearts are your family members.

A few hours after his death, Nkaissery was replaced by Education Minister Fred Matiang’i. It is a sensitive docket which should not be left vacant as people claim but still a replacement was availed almost immediately.

 Politics is politics

They always say politics is a dirty game. The rivalry in politics always starts and ends there. However, at times it may spill over and have effects to even your family.

There has always been rivalry between NASA flag bearer Raila Odinga and Mr Nkaissery but that did not deter him from giving his condolences.

A person on the other side of the divide is always a political enemy but it all ends there.

Kenyans should not have hatred towards each other because of politicians. They dine and leave together in their bungalows as we Kenyans fight.

Politics will always remain politics as there are no permanent enemies or friends.

Live your life as if you are dying tomorrow

Love your fellow employees, friends and enemies. Don’t let hatred crowd your thoughts to the extent of insulting or killing a person.

Reports emerging from the favorite Bomas joint Nkaissery used to take his beer indicate that after his appointment as cabinet secretary he stopped sitting at a social gathering he used to love. He started taking his beer from the private isolated place meant for prominent people.

Even if an individual gets a post an interaction with his friends and followers is essential. These are the same people who will attend your burial and help out the family if need be.

The key recipe that will make people love and respect you is to reciprocate with the love and respect.
