BRAZZAVILLE, Congo: June 19 (Xinhua) — The ministry of Energy and Hydraulics of the Republic of Congo has launched a project of Energy Information System (SIE-Congo) to update the country’s management in the energy sector in the capital of Brazzaville on Tuesday.
Coordinator of the SIE-Africa Mr. Philippe said the development of a national SIE allowed a clear vision on the evolution of country’s energy sector at cost in the medium and long term.
He pointed out that with starting the program, Congo has joined the eleven countries having Energy Information System, which are Benin, Niger, Senegal, Togo, Burkina faso, Cote d’Ivoire, Mali, Guinea Bissau, Central African Repulic, Cameroon and DR Congo.
“Through this project, half of the CEMAC (the Economic and Monetary Community of Central African States) countries will soon have an updated energy account with international standards,” added Philippe.
Executive Secretary to the Minister of Energy and Hydraulics Koua Pierre praised the initiative of the project and said, “By having a reliable database in the energy sector, the SIE will allow the departments in charge of energy respond to needs related to energy policy.”
He called on energy personnel to get involved in this project and said, “I invite you people in the energy sector to contribute effectively to the development of SIE-Congo, because it will allow us to better manage our energy system without difficulty.” (Xinhua)
