HELB needs some help in spelling.
A Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) quarter page advert appearing in today’s edition of the Star newspaper on page 8 is a thriller. The subject line of the advertisement announcing the creation of a revolving fund to help public servants access loans for high education reads “NOTICE TO ALL PUBIC SERVANTS”.
Whatever that means we leave to our readers to decide, but now who takes the blame? The HELB person who approved the advert, the designer or proof-reader?
Good lesson to remind media people that the spell-checker on the computer is not intelligent enough to detect the meaning of words – it just does what it is meant to do: checks spelling and some bit of grammar.
