Bloomberg looking for news editor for Nairobi bureau

Bloomberg News is searching for a news editor for its Nairobi bureau in Kenya. The holder of the position will assist with its coverage in Kenya and East Africa.

Responsibilities include generating and shaping ideas, editing copy, coaching and mentoring reporters and interacting with fellow editors on the team as well as across the organisation.

“The successful applicant will be able to work with teams to produce breaking news stories under deadline pressure, as well as longer in-depth features, ensuring all are clear, comprehensive and accurate,” the company says in a job advert.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

Previous financial journalism experience is essential – Ability to work gracefully under pressure

Proven success in generating story ideas and producing outstanding copy

Ability to coach reporters on interviewing and writing is required

Knowledge of the economy, financial markets, and business
