President Uhuru Kenyatta today placed the winning bid of Ksh1.1 million on Boran cross breed bull (above) at an auction at the Nairobi International Trade Fair, Nairobi News reports, making it the most expensive domestic animal in Kenya.

Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero was no match to President’s Kenyatta’s financial muscle and had to settle for a runners-up position with his Ksh950, 000 bid. The President immediately donated the 580-kilogrammes bull to police officers in Nairobi County, though it is unclear how they will share it.

He was presiding over the official opening of the trade fair that was characterised by a poor turnout by the public. The heavy deployment of security officers overshadowed the people who attended the fair.

The President returned home yesterday night from New York, United States, where he attended the 70th United Nations General Assembly.
