Twitter has announced its partnership with Goal to produce an exclusive show around the 2019 CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON),  Hola Goal. On twitter, the show will be found on #HolaGoal.

The English language programme will provide premium content for football enthusiasts during the 32nd edition of AFCON, which is taking place from 21 June to 19 July in Egypt. The first episode will stream on 3 July.

Hosted by Sizwe Mbebe, the six minute show will offer fast match reports, team profiles, breaking news, and exclusive interviews, as well as reactions from coaches, players and fans in the tournament.

Hola Goal will be free and accessible globally to logged-in and logged-out users on Twitter and connected devices, and will be streamed via Goal’s Twitter accounts @GoalcomSA and @GoalcomNigeria. It will be aired at different days and times of the week.

Hola Goal is adapted from the Arabic language live streaming football show Yalla Goal. The first rendition of Yalla Goal covered football news during the 2018 FIFA World Cup™, generating a total of 10 million video views. The following show, Yalla Goal European Weekly, covered football related news during the Big Five European football leagues, generating 30 million video views. Most recently, Goal produced Yalla Goal Asian Cup around the AFC Asian Cup in January, generating a total of 12 million video views.

“Following the success of previous Yalla Goal shows, we have extended our partnership with Goal to provide a similar experience during AFCON 2019,” said Anis Menal, Africa Content Partnerships Manager, Twitter. “We’re delighted to now offer Hola Goal, a show targeting English speaking audiences in Africa, so they can stay up to date on the tournament and join the conversation on Twitter.”

Salika Mustafa, VP Media & Partnerships, DAZN Media MEA said: “We could not go without doing an AFCON version of the show in the English language for the first time given the popularity of the sport in Africa, and with so many Sub Saharan Africa countries making it to the finals.

“Football is equal parts enthusiasm, sharing and team performance – concepts that resonate across cultures. Being the official sponsor of football in Africa is an exceptional opportunity for Total. The continent is part of our DNA,” said Reina Cullinan, Corporate Communications and Marketing Manager, Total.

Fans can keep up with scores, Tweets and videos on Twitter with a dedicated AFCON page for the quarterfinal, semifinal and final games. They can find this page at the top of their timeline, by searching for “AFCON”, or in the Explore section of the app. They can also cheer on their favourite teams by using each team’s which will trigger a special emoji.
