State and public officers mentioned in corruption risk being barred from travelling to Europe and America. Eleven diplomats who held a meeting with the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) yesterday said they would impose travel restrictions on officials linked to corruption, as the government dithers in fighting the fast-growing vice.
“We are prepared to take further steps to support the Kenyan authorities including, when permitted by law, the return of stolen assets to the Kenyan people or to impose travel restriction on those responsible for graft,” the envoys said in a joint statement they issued after the meeting at Integrity Centre, Nairobi.
The joint statement was read to the press by the US Ambassador to Kenya, Mr Robert Godec, who led the team to the EACC offices.
Here is a list of Top Ten senior government officials with high chances of being barred from travelling to Europe and the US:
1. Devolution Cabinet Secretary, Miss Anne Waiguru.
2. Devolution Principal Secretary, Engineer Peter Mangiti.
3. National Youth Service National Director, Nelson Githinji.
4. National Youth Service Deputy Boss, Adan Harakhe.
5. Former Central Bank of Governor, Prof Njuguna Ndungu
6. Suspended Geothermal CEO, Silas Masinde Simiyu.
7. Suspended Labour Cabinet Secretary, Kazungu Kambi.
8. Suspended Energy CS, Davis Chirchir
9. Suspended Lands CS, Charity Ngilu
10. Suspended Transport CS, Engineer Michael Kamau.
