Over the past two weeks, a number of individuals at the Microsoft African Development Centre (ADC) in Nairobi have been notified of the company's decision to let them go - including product managers and software engineers.

The software engineering interns will work with teammates to 'solve problems and build innovative software solutions'. Teammates include university students drawn from across the world.

His move comes following the announcement by Google that it was setting up a product development centre in Nairobi, the first on the continent.
