Once you gain access to Sheriasoft (www.sheriasoft.com) the writing; ‘the answer to a paperless law practice’ engraved on an intuitive jungle green layout welcomes you. Sheriasoft is cloud-based software developed by information technology experts under the backing of law practice professionals.

Research into its development focused on how technical aid can be a great deal in modernizing law practice and offering digital solutions to law firm management. The innovation is an in thing for solo practitioners, SME firms and professional support groups that are seeking to abandon the old day law office set up maneuvers that has a lot of dust on files that many times go missing.

Given the fuss that comes with pursuance of justice, legal operations rarely miss human error in execution of key tasks. Lawyers spend a huge amount of time overseeing clerical jobs as drafting and filing documents and preparing worksheets that consume most of their work. That files can disappear or get destroyed is not new in the mix. The trend stands between justice and its denial to clients.

Sheriasoft Co-founder Victor Mwago, a lawyer, who led the research on the software’s development notes that the modern infrastructure is designed uniquely for the modernization and automaton of law practice.

He says legal practice often is characterised by use of bulk of paperwork and lawyer-client flurries that make the processes devastating when creating cases all the way through to the billing processes for services.

“Using Sheriasoft is the easiest way to make management of workload such as sorting and sharing of documents easy for upcoming and well established firms. Legal departments, and independent law practitioners can now have an integrated billing system with a track of time used in handling various matters,” says Mr Mwago.

He says through this technology, more is accomplished whether one is working singly or running a team of lawyers. The programme’s design assimilates tools for assigning team specific tasks and enhancing collaboration on single assignments.

Sheriasoft offers its users timely updates of their daily activities and get notifies the legal team and clients of overdue tasks basing on how matters are scheduled on the system.

“We have a way of ensuring accurate time entries are made on each matter. It solves  the challenges lawyers experience in organising and classifying time usage such that using it makes the generation of accurate bills and fee notes  much effortless unlike in the old days,” illustrates Mr. Mwago.

The concept harnessed an information support, decision making and finance support systems all in one set.  In essence, it tackles concerns that traditionally would slow down service delivery by linking up parties involved in a matter such that collaboration in issuance of rulings and judgments is enhanced.

“Moving away from old-style practice is a real struggle. It is where our system comes in handy as a bridge to a modern way of practices. Being part of it means a law firm regardless of its size will have ease of workflow in the face of dealing with a lot of clients and files. Management is made noble and it can as well be used to schedule appointments,” says Mr Mwago.

In its design, the tech team yoked together contact creation and deletion tools. They set up an elaborate mechanism for attaching fee notes, client matters, and quotations to specific contacts and groups.

Sheriasoft is fascinating users not only in Kenya but has also spread wide its wings to Tanzania and Nigeria. New subscribers get a one-month-free use of the secure web application that is computer and mobile phone responsive.

As a litigant, in the event your lawyer uses the system, you stand to benefit. Sheriasoft gives automated feeds on what the legal counsel or firm whose services you sought does to tackle developments on your matter. This cuts down on the call-ins and meetings with your lawyer that mostly sidetrack the legal team.
