Nakumatt Holdings will maintain its ongoing branch expansion pace this year with plans to open 14 new branches in the next two years. Kenya’s leading retail store will also be stepping up its ongoing efforts to scale up its regional market share through a strategic projects geared at enhancing its customer experience.
According to Nakumatt Holdings Regional Strategy and Operations Director Mr. Thiagarajan Ramamurthy, the retailer will this year initiate a programme to grow its gross revenues to over $ 1 billion (Ksh85 billion) in the medium term.
Speaking when he presented a Ford Figo car won by Mr Lawrence Gitau Gituku, a loyal shopper at Nakumatt TRM Supermarket, in the ongoing Nakumatt Christmas Bonanza, Mr Thiagarajan confirmed that expansion plans for the 14 new branches are now at an advanced stage. Mr Gitau, who is also a Tourist Police Unit Officer, received the keys to his brand new Ford Figo car that he recently won in the Nakumatt Christmas Bonanza Customer reward programme.
Nakumatt has a regional branch network of 52 outlets across Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda. “We are looking ahead for wholesome growth and we will not be deterred by new entrants into the local market as we are firmly focused on revolutionalising customer experience and growing our network,” Mr Ramamurthy said.
“Within this project, the pilot refurbishment works at Nakumatt Village Hypermarket are nearing completion and we shall be rolling out similar store upgrade works at all other branches progressively from next year.”
