Hino Kenya, a Toyota Group company has penned a partnership with Machakos-based motorcars dealer, Emperor Motors. The deal, expected to boost the Hino brand in Kenya, was signed in Machakos town, where a branch was unveiled.

Over 2,000 Hino units have been sold since 2013 and the company also introduced Hino franchise model to cater to various needs of customers in the country.

Speaking during the launch of the partnership in Machakos County last week, General Manager of Hino Motors for Europe and Africa, Mr Shuichi Kaneko, said the deal will see customers access various services across Hino products including after-sale services. “We look to contribute successfully to our customers through providing the best products and services that suit their needs,” he said.

The new branch has absorbed more than 30 employees from the region and is set to benefit the residents by minimising movement into Nairobi while seeking maintenance services.  “We are looking forward to having a good relationship with Emperor Motors. As the market grows here, people will also grow with it,” said Amb. Dennis Awori, Chairman of Toyota Kenya.

The company, through its affiliation with Toyota Group Kenya, has expanded its branches for three years now, offering training and support services to clients.

“Kenya is an open market for variety of players. We have partnered with Hino to help us centralise the business and take it to the people,” Mr Bob Muritu, Emperor Motors Marketing Director said, adding that it will provide spare parts, servicing and training.

The company says Toyota products are cheaper to maintain. “Toyota Products are relatively cheaper. Their sustainability is more friendly to our market and therefore through this partnership we look forward to more businesses,” Mr Muritu added.

The first customer from the partnership deal received his brand new HINO 500 Series medium duty, funded by Equatorial Commercial Bank.
