GSK Vice president Africa & Developing countries Ramil Burden and (right ) and Deputy Chief Executive, Royal Society of Chemistry, Stephen Hawthorne display the MoU signed to enhance the capabilities of African scientists in modern analytical skills.

As part of GSK’s commitment to investing in African academia, the company has entered into a partnership with the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC). GSK’s support will allow the RSC’s Pan Africa Chemistry Network to significantly expand the training course, as technical training has been one of the most popular activities.

These trainings are delivered by a dedicated group of highly-experienced volunteers, and GSK’s involvement will make the delivery model more sustainable through the implementation of a train-the-trainer model, developing the African scientists into the trainers themselves.

The Royal Society of Chemistry is the world’s leading chemistry community, advancing excellence in the chemical sciences. With over 53,000 members and a knowledge business that spans the globe, it is the UK’s professional body for chemical scientists; a not-for-profit organisation with 170 years of history and an international vision of the future.
