The CPF & Laptrust Schemes have won three Good Practice awards at the just concluded International Social Security Association (ISSA) Regional Forum 2017 held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The administrator for Laptrust, the County Pension Fund and the CPF Individual Pension scheme was awarded for enhancing customer experience and increasing social security coverage through the use of a mobile application – the Mpension; enhancing scheme administration efficiency through the adoption of a Digital Records Management system and assisting scheme beneficiaries effectively manage their benefits through the Trust Fund.
The Award ceremony was one of the highlights during the ISSA Regional Social Security Forum for Africa. A total of 70 entries were received from 30 member schemes in 21 countries from across the continent. The event was presided over by the ISSA global leadership and secretariat from the association headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.
CPF Financial services Managing Director Hosea Kili said the awards were in recognition of the administrators’ innovative ways in running the Pension Schemes that it administers.
“The awards are well deserved as CPF has continued to focus on innovative strategies to improve its service delivery through superior product offering, prompt payments as well as stakeholder engagement; all aimed at enhancing service delivery to our esteemed members,” said Kili.
Kili said CPF had introduced among other innovative solutions, Mpension which enables members to join the scheme from their mobile phone and the Electronic data management system which has streamlined internal processes and enabled the schemes to settle claims within five days.

He said the Trust Fund has ensured dependants of it’s scheme members are well catered for incase of the death of a member; and that especially children’s school fees and other basic needs such as housing and medical needs are directly met by the Trust Fund in cases where no dependable next of kin is identified.
Kili said the scheme has embraced an automated biometric register, allowing pensioners to be verified at the touch of a button through its branches across the country. The need to verify pensioners is a requirement for pension schemes so as to ascertain that those on the pension payroll are pensioners who are still alive. ‘‘Making this process very simple for our esteemed Pensioners has been a real joy for me. Pensioners deserve the dignity of receiving services right where they are; and that is what we endeavour to do at CPF,’’ said Kili.
The Pension schemes Administrator continues to run a country-wide branch network, aimed at bringing services closer to the people.
