Bolt, one of the leading on-demand transportation platforms in Africa, has introduced a new feature in its mobile application that allows users to add extra stops to their rides.

With this new feature, customers can now use one ride among a group of people and have each and everyone dropped at their destination.

The ability to add multiple destinations will be available for the customers with the latest version of the Bolt App. Customers searching for their required destination will see a small plus sign on the right side of the address box. They will need to tap on the ‘+’ to create an additional stop to their ride. Customers can have up to three stops in a single ride, the last one being the final destination on their journey.

Bolt’s Country manager-Kenya, Ola Akinnusi said that the upgrade was necessary because it suited the needs of the company’s customers.

“We continue to offer quality services that suits the needs of our esteemed customers. Our core business is to provide convenient, safe and affordable transportation services to everyone and we are excited to make travel easier and convenient to our customers,” said Ola.

The new feature enables passengers to see prices up-front for the rides that include several stops. The driver will see the route with all the stops on the map of his Bolt driver app after the ride has been started.

Earlier this month, the company received a financial boost to help that would help the business grow as it is right now. Bolt received a EUR 50 million (Ksh5.5 billion) venture debt facility from the European Investment Bank (EIB) to support its research and development strategies.

The company, on the other hand, promised that the funds would go into improving the safety, reliability, and sustainability of Bolt’s services while maintaining high efficiency of its operations. This includes investments in existing services like ride-hailing as well as personalized mobility services like food delivery.

After receiving the venture debt facility money, Bolt’s next move has been rolling out this new feature that allows users to select several stops on their ride.

The feature will be rolled out gradually to Bolt users on Android and iOS this month.
