Big drop in trading sends jitters in NSE investors

Turnover at the NSE declined to Ksh875M from the previous session’s Ksh3.32bn, the number of shares traded stood at 27m against a hefty tally of 83m posted yesterday. The NSE 20 Share Index shed 14.00 points to stand at 4676.16. All Share Index (NASI) eased 1.86 points to stand at 156.59.

In Automobile & Accessories sector  Sameer Africa ended ten cents lower to Ksh5.10 on a volume of 12,000 shares. The Banking Sector had 10.8M shares traded and represented 40.17% of the day’s traded volume. KCB unchanged at Ksh54.00 moved 4.3M shares. Equity Bank declined to Ksh45.25 on a volume of 2.9M shares, down from Ksh47.25 posted the previous session.

Construction & Allied Sector moved 713,000 shares, which accounted for 2.63% of the day’s traded volume. ARM Cement moved 705,000 shares at a fairly stable price of Ksh71.50.
Kenya Power fluctuated at between Ksh16.00 and Ksh16.70 on a volume of 1.5M shares. KenGen moved 74,000 shares and closed at Ksh8.70.

Manufacturing & Allied Sector moved 1.6M shares, which represented 6.03% of the day’s traded volume. Carbacid Investments down 0.9% to Ksh16.75 moved 306,000 shares. Mumias Sugar moved 1.1M shares and closed at Ksh2.10. Down 2.9% to Ksh15.25, Safaricom moved 10M.
