The 2021 Top Employers were announced on 28th January at a virtual award ceremony, and BAT was recognised as one of the best employers in Kenya. Being certified as a Top Employer showcases an organisation’s dedication to a better world of work and exhibits this through excellent HR policies and people practices.
The Top Employers Institute programme certifies organisations based on the participation and results of their HR Best Practices Survey. This survey covers six HR domains consisting of 20 topics such as People Strategy, Work Environment, Talent Acquisition, Learning, Well-being and Diversity & Inclusion and more.
“Despite the challenging year we have experienced (which has certainly made an impact on organisations around the globe), BAT Kenya has continued to demonstrate the power of putting their people first in the workplace,” says Top Employers Institute CEO David Plink.
The programme has certified and recognised more than 1,600 Top Employers in 120 countries/regions across five continents.
BAT Kenya Managing Director Crispin Achola said the cigarette maker received the Top Employer certification in both Kenya and Africa for the fourth successive year and has been ranked No. 2 in Kenya for 2021.
This certification demonstrates that BAT Kenya continues to deliver workplace conditions of the highest standard, guided by the ethos: Bold, Fast, Empowered, Diverse and Responsible, which enables people to grow within the organisation and development of future leaders.
“As a result, we continue to recruit and retain the best and brightest talent to deliver our evolved strategy and purpose to build ‘A Better Tomorrow’ for our stakeholders,” he said.
Other BAT operations in its South and Eastern Africa markets that received the 2021 Top Employer certification include Uganda, South Africa, Angola, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Mozambique.
