Safaricom today launched its regional headquarters in Mombasa and a new retail shop in Malindi, as it bolsters its presence and distribution network at the Kenyan Coast. Situated at the Avenue Building in Nyali, the regional headquarter will coordinate operations across the Coast.

The establishment of headquarters in the six regions – Coast, Mt Kenya, Western, Rift Valley, Nairobi West and Nairobi East, is part of a regionalization strategy meant to put the business close to customers.

Speaking during the official opening of the Coast headquarters in Mombasa, Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore said that the regional structure is geared towards enhancing interaction with customers to determine their needs and increase the response time. “By decentralizing our operations and increasing touch points, we aim to serve our customers even better and enhance relationships as we continue on our mission to transform lives,” said Mr Collymore.

The Malindi Retail Shop that was also commissioned today becomes the sixth Safaricom Shop at the Coast and the 45thcountrywide. Safaricom is also widening customers touch points in the country by bringing on board Care Desks and dealer shops, and agents to make it easy and convenient to serve customers.

“Putting the customer first is a key strategic objective for us as a company. This is the reason we continue to invest towards increasing the number and variety of touchpoints for our customers in the Coast Region, and indeed the rest of the country,” Mr Collymore added.
