Manchester United have sacked Luis Van Gaal. The Dutch has been fired two days after winning the English FA trophy. Former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, also sacked in December last year and has been in the cold, is now primed to replace him.

Sources privy to Manchester United indicate that Mourinho’s appointment could be completed as soon as this week while confirmed sources say that Luis van Gaal has been fired.

The Red Devils have had turbulent times in the recent past especially after the departure of their long-serving and most successful manger Sir Alex Ferguson left the club in 2013. The club has struggled to regain their European prowess, often challenged by ‘smaller teams’ an experience they never had, for close to twenty years.

The Independent published on its website confirming that Jose Mourinho is set to take charge at Manchester United on a three-year deal.

‘Louis van Gaal’s fate as Manchester United manager is set to sealed on Monday, with the club’s American owners due to rubber-stamp his departure – two days after winning the FA Cup at Wembley,’ posted the UK based website.

Outgoing Manchester united manager; Louis Van Gaal has been under constant scrutiny since his arrival at Old Trafford and has been occasionally publicly criticized both by fans and players over his ‘philosophy.’

Prior to his sack, he led Manchester United to the FA Cup glory, the first ever-major trophy at the club in close to four years.

‘His tactics have been so unpopular that various members of his squad have talked between themselves about openly defying him. It hasn’t reached the point of mutiny, but it has been a close-run thing sometimes. The consensus has been that “it can’t get much worse than it is,’ wrote Daniel Taylor for the Guardian, UK.
