Spurred by the sale of Equity Group Holdings Ltd shares, turnover soared to Ksh3.32bn on a volume of 83M shares, up from Ksh551M on 30M shares posted yesterday.
The banking Sector had 48M shares traded and represented 58.50% of the day’s traded volume. Equity Group Holdings was the day’s main feature with 45M shares changing hands at between Ksh45.00 and Ksh47.50. KCB moved 2.6M shares and closed at Ksh54.00.
The NSE 20 Share Index shed 2.01 points to stand at 4690.16, while the All Share Index (NASI) edged up 0.06 points to stand at 158.45.
In the agricultural counter, Williamson Tea was down Ksh17 to Ksh380.00.
Commercial & Services sector moved 481,000 shares, which accounted for 0.58% of the day’s traded volume. WPP Scangroup was unchanged at Ksh39.00 for 342,000 shares. Uchumi Supermarkets down 4.1% to Ksh8.15 for the 7,000 shares traded.

Energy & Petroleum sector moved 1.3M shares, which accounted for 1.58% of the day’s traded volume. KenGen declined to Ksh8.05 on a volume of 1M shares, down from Ksh8.15 posted the previous session.
Investment sector moved 4.6M shares, which accounted for 5.54% of the day’s traded volume. Centum Investments actively moved 4.5M shares at between Ksh55.00 and Ksh59.50.
British American Tobacco was up 7.2% to Ksh804.00, moving 253,000 shares. Mumias Sugar moved 1.3M shares and closed at Ksh2.10.
In Telecommunication & Technology, Safaricom was down five cents to Ksh15.70, for 22M shares traded.
