City Hall bans ECDE graduation ceremonies

Public schools with pre-unit schools and day nurseries in Nairobi have been banned from conducting graduation ceremonies as has been the case in previous years.

In a circular to public primary school headteachers and day nurseries centre managers, County Executive in charge of Education Janet Ouko expressed concern that they were charging parent between Ksh 1,000 and Ksh 1,500 for the ceremonies.

“This is against the spirit of free ECDE which is being implemented by H.E the Governor in Nairobi County. This is therefore to communicate a ban on all ECDE graduation ceremonies especially if they attract a charge to the parents,” she said.
