Curious about just how much the 24 principal secretaries that were confirmed by the National Assembly on Thursday, December 17 are worth?  Their combined net worth stands at KSh 1.7 billion.

This sounds like a lot, but when compared to the net worth of Uhuru’s seven new cabinet secretaries (KSh 2.7 billion) it is pocket change.

So which of the principal secretaries has the most wealth to their name?

Wilson Irungu, the Principal Secretary for the Ministry of Transport, with a total declared wealth of KSh374 million is the wealthiest. The majority of his assets are from real estate holdings. The poorest of them is Aidah Munano, the Principal Secretary for Lands, who declared a net worth of KSh6.2 million.

Two additional principal secretaries declared a wealth of over KSh100 million. They are Zeinab Hussein, the Principal Secretary for Gender Affairs, who declared a wealth of KSh371 million when combined with her husband and Patrick Nduati, the Principal Secretary for Irrigation with a net worth of KSh100 million.
