Students seeking higher education abroad have a bigger platform to advance their dreams after leading Education Consultants Hill Education rebranded to Unipass in a bid to tap the growing numbers of students seeking to study outside the country.

Sanpreet Pattni, the Managing Director of Unipass, this will broaden its mandate in providing better and quality services.

Speaking at a Nairobi Hotel, Ms Pattni revealed that students who apply through the newly rebranded agency will have a 99 percent success rate with unsuccessful applications most likely rejected on grounds of incorrect document presentation.

“We understand the importance of quality education for students and it is our role to ensure that we increase the acceptance rate for applicants who apply to colleges and universities through Unipass,” said Ms Pattni.

She added that Unipass has successfully linked students with top universities and colleges as certified and highly ranked by major education journals in the United States, adding that such credible records will elevate their position in the market.

She referred to recent surveys by Ipsos Synovate indicating that majority of Kenyans are inclined to send their children abroad for education and exposure as local institutions are more often viewed as lacking some aspects.

Although efforts have been put in place to improve local education standards, there is much that needs to be done. Public universities in Kenya have been plagued with lack of resources due inadequate government funding. Issues of crowding, shortage of teaching staff and inadequate facilities are common and lead to poor quality of education.

She pointed out that parents are also shunning local public institutions because foreign institutions offer much more than just education.

In its quest to offer more opportunities Unipass is working with its partners  Navitas, a global education provider in 31 countries. Over 3,000 students have so far undergone further studies in various top universities in Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United States through Unipass.

Ms Pattni said the agency plans to broaden its presence to cover the entire Eastern Africa region. “We provide students who want to study abroad with various services such as counseling, advice and assistance on visa processing as well as accommodation and airport pick up arrangements to prevent them from getting stranded in foreign land,” she added.

Kenya is facing a huge challenge of unemployment as many students struggle to find jobs upon graduation. However, she argues that studying abroad increases chances of employment due to high network and exposure.
