Also elected to the board was Philip Wambugu, a seasoned corporate executive who has served in various roles in infrastructure and service-related fields, most recently as a Senior Consultant for Google Loon responsible for overflight rights across Africa between 2018 and March 2021.

Smat's return to the screens was welcomed excitedly by his long-time fans and viewers who voiced high hopes for With All Due Respect.

"It’s easy to criticise other journalists’ African reporting from the comforts of America, but I chose to come back, so the audience can hold me accountable to the same standards I preached," the journalist noted.

His career has included some big moments, among them landmark rulings and administering the oath of office to former President Mwai Kibaki at Uhuru Park in 2002, after the National Rainbow Coalition (NARC) rode to power defeating independence party KANU's then rookie politician Uhuru Kenyatta.

Before joining Airtel in 2012, Segun held leadership roles at Coca-Cola in Ghana, Nigeria, and Kenya (as MD and CEO). He has also been the Managing Director of Nigerian Bottling Company Ltd (Coca-Cola Hellenic owned) and Group head of retail banking operations at Ecobank Transnational Inc, covering 28 countries in Africa. He is an electronics engineer and also a chartered accountant.
