Sprite Sheds Off Iconic Green Bottle For a Clear Look

The lemon-lime flavoured Sprite will now be packaged in a clear PET (polyethylene terephthalate) plastic bottle, marking a historic shift from the green-colored plastic bottle which has been its identity since 1960 when it was first launched. This shift from the iconic green bottle means more Sprite bottles can be collected, recycled and reused to make new items, in line with Coca-Cola’s World Without Waste vision, which targets to collect and recycle the equivalent of every bottle or can it sells by 2030, as well as use 50% recycled content in all its packaging.

CUE Takes On Professional Bodies Over Accreditation Of University Courses

In a letter dated 23rd June 2021 to Vice-Chancellors and Principals, CUE Chief Executive Officer Prof Mwendwa Ntarangwi protested against non-compliance, warning that courses already approved by professionals could be withdrawn and further applications declined. “It has come to the knowledge of the Commission for University Education that professional bodies continue to purport to accredit/approve academic programmes in universities,” Prof Ntarangwi writes.

New Survey Shows SMEs Optimistic About Recovery

The inaugural Mastercard Middle East and Africa (MEA) SME Confidence Index found that 62% of SMEs in Africa are optimistic about the next 12 months, and 61% of SMEs in Kenya are seeing positive signs of recovery.  As Kenya gradually begins staging its economic recovery, small and medium sized businesses have identified easier access to funding (73%), acceptance of digital payments, better data and insights, and digitizing business operations (72%) as the top three drivers of growth.
